This Henry Cotton design runs through two valleys and uses the natural Algarve landscape to offer winding fairways and gently undulating greens reminiscent of a UK parkland course.
On the first nine holes, players have the added pleasure of enjoying an excellent view over Lagos Bay. The last nine holes come back inland, running through gentle mountain slopes to include hole number 16, which is said to be the longest hole in Europe: 604 metres. The super clubhouse offers a pleasant welcome back after negotiating this tough and tight course. Alto is close to Alvor where guests staying at the Pestana hotels receive big discounts. The course has benefitted greatly from the investments made by the Pestana group since its purchase in 2007 and is now invariably in excellent playing condition.
