Alcochete is a traditional Portuguese village situated in the Tagus estuary just across the river from Lisbon. The city is just a 10 minute drive via famous Vasco de Gama bridge. A notable feature is the lack of shops; this is due to the Iberian Peninsulars largest outlet shopping centre which can be found at the entrance to the village. The lack of 'tourists' to this part of Lisbon has meant that Alcochete has retained much of its original charm and provides the perfect choice for a golf holiday. Unless you make for the bright lights of the city Alcochete is not really for night owls although there are some lovely local bars that will be happy to supply your refreshments well into the night.
