Madeira's capital is a friendly and vibrant city with good access to both Santo de Serra and Palheiro. The hotels tend be situated in the lido area, a few minutes flat walk into the centre where you will find shops, restaurants and plenty of interesting sights. This is one of those places where you can walk for ages without seeing the same landscape. Venture down the cobbled streets for markets and or cheap local produce. The scenery is spectacular; Funchal is surrounded by mountains, most of which are conservation areas. Book a golf holiday to Funchal today! |

Once in the centre of Funchal, most of the restaurants are of the traditional variety, with local specialities such as tomato and onion soup, tuna steak and maize, and bacalhau (salted dried cod). The Madeirans are also fond of their pastries and of course, the local wine, dry white. |
