The Isle of Purbeck – Championship Course boasts an idyllic location in the Dorset region of England. The course is positioned on a high heathland plateau near the town of Swanage, which sits in a nature reserve & is known for its breathtaking panoramic views.
Although the Par 70 Purbeck Championship Course measures less than 6,300 yards, it is a challenging course for many reasons and can challenge even the most discerning golfer. Firstly, as the course is situated on high grounds, it is fully exposed to the winds and secondly, there are several long and difficult par 4s as well as a collection of par 3s which are equally as difficult.
Make sure that you bring your best golf to this course as any wayward shots will not be forgiven here due to strategic bunkering and difficult rough to navigate. This is arguably one of the best courses in Dorset and has scenery to match this interesting and difficult layout. Make sure that this undulating, fast and difficult course is on your itinerary for your next golf escape to Dorset.
Throughout the round, there are four par 3s, none of which are longer than 200 yards but all feature plenty of strategically placed bunkers and even with the slightest breeze, these are tricky holes to play and score well on. Arguably, the course’s signature hole is the par 4 5th hole which is simply breathtaking from the tee shot to the final putt with the stunning view of Studland Bay. Although the front nine is trickier than the back nine, you must not let your accuracy drop for the back nine as there are still many hazards and tricky holes to navigate your way around.
