Castel d'Aviano Golf Club

  • The Castel d’Aviano Golf Club, situated nearby to the ski resort of Piancavallo, has recently undergone a complete renovation to create the fantastic 18-hole golf course it is today. The Castel d’Aviano Golf Club is an excellent course, split into two distinct halves, offering a comprehensive golfing experience in Friuli Venezia Giulia.

The architect of this outstanding golf course has perfectly combined the old nine with the new, creating a natural course with outstanding playability. With its greens typically characterised by undulating greens and a mass of tall trees, the Castel d’Aviano Golf Club certainly boasts an unforgettable challenge offered in a stunning scenery.

Set within a natural park, players at the Castel d’Aviano Golf Club can expect a challenging round with all the elements of nature coming into play. On this course, the architect has perfectly incorporated the landscape’s natural features with his vision to create one of the finest golf courses in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region.

The course at the Castel d’Aviano Golf Club measures just 6,500 yards from the yellows, however with its greens characterised with an abundance of water features, it is essential that golfers play off the tees with accuracy and utilise all of the clubs in their arsenal to score well. The front nine in particular demand accurate play and course management due to the water hazards included, whereas the challenge in the back nine is created with tall trees lining the fairways. Whilst the back nine are typically more challenging, players will soon find themselves rewarded with stunning views of the Castel d’Aviano.

The first nine are situated in the rolling terrain in the prestigious Natural Park at Vila PolicretI, which is host to exclusive accommodation and the club house. The back nine have been designed to feature a flatter surface, meandering through three lakes and offering panoramic views of the snow-capped Monte Cavallo. Whilst the back nine holes are typically flatter, they are widely considered to be the more challenging nine with dense greenery and trees lining the fairways, and several blind water hazards. The challenge at the Castel d’Aviano Golf Club is further intensified with crisp winds blowing across from the sea.

To help players warm up for the invigorating challenge ahead and fine tune their game, the Castel d’Aviano Golf Club offers its visitors an excellent range of practice facilities including a driving range, putting, pitching and chipping greens, and a practice bunker.
