Course Info
The course features undulating fairways and a heavy water presence which means that it can be a little tricky, especially when the wind is blowing but the scenery that you can see from the course makes up for the balls that you may lose whilst on the course. From the course, you can see right out to Liffey Valley and the Dublin Mountains so wherever you look, all you can see is beautiful Irish scenery. Water is present on seven of the 18-hole course which means that if you are not concentrating there is a fair chance that you will lose a few balls, especially with the fact that there is water guarding each par-3 hole. This is a fantastic and scenic golf course and one that is not to be passed up on when you are next in the Dublin area and it complements a stay at Castleknock Hotel and Country Club beautifully.
Castleknock Golf Club is a beautifully manicured course with well-kept fairways and greens and the club boasts all of the facilities that you would expect from a club of this standard including a great clubhouse with a great bar and restaurant as well as a balcony with views over the course.
There are many spectacular and scenic holes including the 9th and 18th holes which are both par-3s where you must carry your ball over the water before tackling the double green which has the impressive clubhouse as its backdrop. The signature hole of this course is considered to be the par-3 11th hole on which you have to navigate your way to the hole avoiding both water and a rock wall which are to the right and long of the fairway. Many of the holes along this course require the upmost accuracy and anything less will leave you with a poor scorecard or a ball in the water at the very least.
After your round on the Castleknock Golf Club, enjoy a cold beverage and a bite to eat on the clubhouse balcony which overlooks the 9th and 18th hole of the course. This 6,700 yard golf course is an enjoyable challenge for golfers of all handicaps which means that it is a perfect holiday course, ideal for your next golf break to Ireland.
