Castlerock Golf Club - The Mussenden Course
The Mussenden Course at Castlerock Golf Club is one of the toughest links courses in the area and boasts an impressive array of different holes with unique layouts situated right at the mouth of the River Bann.
There is no denying that the Mussenden course is a very challenging course which can be made even more challenging when the wind is blowing which it so often is in Northern Ireland and so if you can play close to your handicap here then you have played a brilliant round. The greens are consistently quick on this course, no matter what time of year it is that you have chosen to visit which means that your short game must be of a high standard in order to not mess up your hole at the last hurdle! There are certainly no easy holes at Castlerock Golf Club and so you must maintain your concentration throughout as the course arguably gets harder after a more sedate start. There is an interesting selection of different holes and you will almost certainly have a very enjoyable round here – even if your scorecard is not as you would like it to be! This is a solid and varied test of links golf which is well worth a visit when you are on your next golf holiday in Northern Ireland.

You are always greeted with a warm welcome when visiting Castlerock Golf Club and you can enjoy a cold beverage or two in the bar and even a delicious meal in the clubhouse’s restaurant to end your brilliant round here on the Mussenden course.
The first five holes here are extremely tough so straight from the 1st tee you must play as well as you possibly can if you want to come away with a scorecard that you can be proud of. Arguably, the signature hole here on the Mussenden course is the 4th hole which is a 200-yard par 3 on which the tee shot is played to an elevated green whilst the railway runs to the left alongside the entire length of the hole and the burn runs diagonally from right to left which means that you have many hazards to contend with! After the 5th hole, the course becomes more links-style and the holes just keep getting better from that moment on. Another standout hole on the Mussenden course is that par 5 17th hole which boasts stunning views of the course from its tee and out to the Atlantic Ocean.
This is a beautiful round of golf with some breathtaking views and exciting golf which must be enjoyed when you are next on a golf break to Northern Ireland.
