Crail Golfing Society - Balcomie Links
Crail Golfing Society is positioned on the eastern most edge of Fife and is only a 12 minute drive from the Home of Golf located at the world famous St Andrews.
The sixth oldest golf club in the world, Crail Golfing Society was founded in 1786 and dates back to the very origins of the game, offering a traditional heritage like no other. Much of the course was completed by the legendary Tom Morris in 1895, however, it is rumoured that golf was long being played on these lands long before the first official nine holes took shape.
The two courses here, both the Balcomie Links and Craighead Links, offer a great traditional Scottish links layout and boast a superb course option just outside of St Andrews, along the rugged East coast of Scotland.
The Balcornie Links, the original track here at Crail, is one of Scotlands golfing gems and well worth the short drive from St Andrews. Measuring at just over 5400 yards, the course isn’t the longest, but certainly packs a punch as it is filled with obstacles and hazards to ensure you utilise every club in your armoury. Many of the holes are flanked by the golden sand beach whilst the strategically place pot bunkers will certainly capture your ball.
An unsheltered course from the elements, the inevitable winds at Crail will make each round unique and a genuine test of your ability, whilst the majority of holes here boarder the beaches, creating unforgettable views as you make your way through the 18 holes.
A true Scottish welcome and traditional clubhouse accompany this fantastic links layout, making Crail Golfing Society and the Balcornie Links a splendid round on your Scotland golf tour.
