The former Ryder Cup captain Ian Woosnam designed a fantastic course at Dale Hill Golf Club.

The course is perfectly in tune with its surroundings and its layout flows gracefully through the High Weald ridges. 

The course was constructed in 1997 to USGA specifications and is certainly a demanding course which rewards accuracy off the tee. The Ian Woosnam designed course is considered to the superior of the two courses at Dale Hill and despite its location not being very well-known, is a course that will leave a lasting impression. This par-72, 6,512-yard course boasts a very interesting and varied layout of holes with some brilliant holes that can make or break your scorecard! You will need to consider carefully your club selection off the tee on a number of holes which can make this a very interesting round. The course boasts good greens, strategically placed bunkers and outstanding scenery for you to enjoy and with many challenging holes, this is a course that will challenge golfers of all abilities. If you are looking for a course in excellent condition that will test golfers of all abilities, then look no further than this excellent golf course situated in the stunning countryside of East Sussex.

This course is a favourite with both amateurs and professionals as it offers round filled with various challenges that can be testing but fair to golfers of all abilities despite the fact that it isn’t considered to be a long course, even though some of the par-5s feel as if they would go on forever. There are a few very challenging par-3 holes and some very long par-5s which can make the course very difficult for you. However tricky the course is, there are a few particularly excellent holes along this course including the 10th which is a nice and tight par-3 which is surrounded by trees or the 17th which is a beautiful and short dog-leg over a small valley which can heavily damage your scorecard if approached wrongly!
After your round here, or on the Dale Hill Old course, you can enjoy relaxing in the club’s clubhouse where you can enjoy a few drinks and a bite to eat whilst you discuss the brilliant round of golf that you have just finished.
Whilst you wind through the East Sussex countryside in and out of the chestnut and oak woods you can enjoy the stunning views from the course but also the beauty of how the course flows so naturally in its landscape.
This is an excellent golf course and not one to be missed out on…

The Woosnam Course at Dale Hill really is a perfect stay and play golf course. It is a lot of fun, but it most certainly isn’t easy. There are some fantastic views to be found in this picturesque corner of Sussex, on what can only be described as a fantastic course. And it is not just the deisgn that is impressive – a lot of work is put into course maintainence, particularly the slick greens. You’ll find a very interesting collection of well thought out holes – particularly some cracking par 3s. But my favourite hole on the course is the 9th – a par 4 dog leg, which leaves you with a downhill shot to the green over a precariously placed ditch.

The whole trip was excellent value.

Our group of 4 golfers have just returned from a most enjoyable 3 day trip to the Isle of Wight. The short ferry crossing works very efficiently, we even managed to get on the return ferry despite arriving about 10 minutes before departure. Day 1 we played 9-hole Osbourne, a lovely parkland course close to the House and with occasional sea views. Day 2 we were at Freshwater Bay, fortunately in the most benign conditions as it is quite exposed but with fantastic sea views and many great holes. Our final day was at Sandown and Shanklin which is clearly the best club on the island and where (despite the delayed start which) we played some cracking holes. Our Travel Lodge in Newport worked very well for us and the whole trip was excellent value.

Excellent service.

Long weekend away April 2019. Great golf, accommodation, food etc at Avisford Park. We have used Golf Escapes many times and they never fail to deliver. We are already planning next year with Golf Escapes.

This is the fourth time we have used Golf Escapes. In the past it has been to France although this year we went to the Isle of Wight. We were concerned about Brexit. Every part of each visit has been a success with the golf, travel and the hotels. An important element is that we deal with a person who can always be contacted. Nothing’s too much trouble.

Golf Escapes arranged for 9 of us to stay at The East Sussex National. After booking we had to make some minor adjustments and had a few questions which was handled as if nothing’s too much trouble.
