Donnafugata South Course - Links
The Donnafugata South Course is the Links course and is entirely different from the North Course making this resort perfect for those wanting to play two entirely different courses.
This course was designed by Franco Piras and is fabulously picturesque as it spans across two valleys and has the island of Malta on the horizon. Although different in most ways from its sister course there is the similarity of the way that nature has such a role in the atmosphere and scenery of the course as it does in the North Course. The artificial lakes are an oasis for migrating birds and the greenery is home to many creatures. Being so close to the sea means that wind has a huge impact on the game this along with some tricky par fours and the lakes make this course a challenging one. If you’re looking for 18 holes of thrilling and exhilarating golf then this could not be more perfect for you.

Generally, this course is considered to be the toughest out of the two Donnafugata courses, and this is made evident particularly on the back nine due to the length and challenging nature of the fairways and greens. Despite the dominating water features on this course, they only threaten four holes, particularly the par-4 8th hole, which plays to an island green. The concluding 18th hole is widely considered to be the most challenging on the course, and is rated a stroke index 1 on the scorecard which comes as no surprise with the acreage of sand protecting the green.
The artificial lakes also act as an oasis for migrating birds and the greenery is home to many creatures. The two large lakes in the centre of the course not only increase the excitement of this course, but also conveniently serve as irrigation reserves and oases for migratory birds. With such a close location to the sea means that wind has a huge impact on the game this along with some tricky par fours. If you’re looking for 18 holes of thrilling and exhilarating golf then this could not be more perfect for you.
