Gullane Golf Club - No. 1 Course
The Gullane No. 1 course was laid in 1884 and is the most senior of the three fantastic courses at Gullane Golf Club. The course is carved into the ancient links turf and boasts pot bunkers, wispy grasses and smooth-running greens for you to contend with.
Although Gullane No. 1 is not especially long at 6,873 yards, the course is an interesting and exciting challenge for golfers of all abilities. The challenge is presented mainly because there is a requirement for varied uphill and downhill shot-making and of course, the pot bunkers. One of the best things about this course is that you can enjoy breathtaking views across to Edinburgh, the Firth of Forth, Fife and beyond which only adds to the brilliance of this course. Gullane No. 1 course has held a few tournaments including the 2015 AAM Scottish Open and final qualifying for the Open Championship for five years. Although the architect of this impressive course is unknown, what we do know is that they did a fantastic job with every hole boasting its own character and charm. Before you tackle any one of the three brilliant courses here at Gullane Golf Club, you can take a few practice shots on the club’s driving range. The club boasts everything that you could need for a good golfing day out including golf buggies to navigate your way up and down the rolling landscape and a great clubhouse where you can enjoy a few drinks and a meal after your round.
A standout hole is the 7th hole, from the tee you can enjoy 360-degree views of the club’s surroundings including the Lammermuir Hills and the Firth of Forth. The 7th hole is a downhill drive down Gullane Hill.
