Jumeirah Golf Estates - Fire Course

  • Opened in January 2010, the second Greg Norman designed course at Jumeirah Golf Estates is a different experience than the more acclaimed “Earth” course and is generally considered to be a stronger links course. Norman has certainly proved himself in the construction of this spectacular course, and is a must-play for your next golfing holiday in Dubai.

Accuracy on your approach to the superbly manicured greens and good course planning is key here at “Fire”; a risk-reward strategy can help you score well here.  Even non-golfers can appreciate the visually stunning views of this course which is beautifully maintained throughout the year and the hint of red in the sand of the bunkers here is a unique and rustic touch.

Players are easily deceived by the basic nature of their shot on the first hole, however it is imperative they do not get lured into a false sense of security as the player is then swiftly thrown into the game. Positioning on the tee may be considered to be the largest challenge this course poses, as large sandy regions and rough areas affect your play when aiming for a narrow fairway.

The fairways on the Fire course have said to have been more ‘manageable’ than the Earth course, however that is not to say it is easier. The Earth course requires a more precise shot, whereas the Fire course features fairways that are generally easier to score more consistently, most likely due to less hazards placed on the course. Despite being considered a true test of golfing ability, this course remains to be regarded as one of the region’s finest.
The last nine holes of the Fire course offer two to three fantastic opportunities to score a birdie. The par fives feature a 350-yard drive if the ball is sent down the slopes accurately. However, if the natural elements are against you, the par fives can require three impressive shots to reach the green when the wind is taking its toll. Yet if the wind is directed in your favour, then two shots should do it.
The Clubhouse at the Jumeirah Golf Estates offers an array of dining options, all of which feature an outdoor terrace where the stunning views of the course can be admired whilst enjoying some top quality cuisine. Options include the Swirl Bar & Lounge, the perfect place to socialise with friends to unwind from a leisurely game of golf, or the Flame Tree Restaurant & Grill, where golfers can indulge in fine dining and uninterrupted views of the course.
