K Club - Palmer Ryder Cup Course

  • The K Club is arguably considered to be one of the most opulent golf resorts in Ireland and it isn't hard to see why. The Palmer Ryder course opened for play in 1991 and was designed by the brilliant Arnold Palmer.

This is a stern test of golf but there are four different tee options and we recommend that you select your tee position carefully as this course measures an impressive 7,337 yards and so the blue tees should be left to the professionals or those who fancy a challenge! Back in 2006, the Palmer course hosted the Ryder Cup and the course provided plenty of excitement as the European Team were victorious. As you wind your way through the round, you will encounter plenty of water hazards, strategically placed bunkers, lush fairways, true greens and stunning views of the surrounding areas. This is a brilliant tournament course which is dominated by water and holes with tricky and unique layouts - a course that should not be underestimated. Make sure that this is on your golfing itinerary for your next golf break to Ireland and when you couple this course with the brilliant five-star K Club Hotel, you have the perfect golf holiday planned.

    Full details

The Palmer Ryder course at the K Club is one of Europe's most spectacular courses and it isn't just the course that is impressive. The facilities and the service match the standard of the course and whether you choose to stay and play or just to play the course and enjoy a bite to eat and a drink after at the clubhouse you will not be disappointed.

There are some brilliant but very challenging and, in some cases, intimidating holes to take on throughout the round including the 16th which is a long par 5 at almost 600 yards from the blue tees. The 16th double doglegs pasts many different hazards including water and bunkers as well as trees and the punishing rough before you get to the green which is protected on both sides by the River Laffey and is difficult to reach! Another impressive but difficult hole is the 7th which requires for you to have an accurate approach shot to another green which is heavily guarded by water. There are plenty of holes similar to these two difficult ones along the course which can make it difficult to end the course with a good scorecard!

After your round, take your time to enjoy the clubhouse and the brilliant hospitality that it has to offer.
