Lewes Golf Club

  • Lewes Golf Club is a spectacular downland course which people have been playing on since 1896 and its elevated position means that throughout your round you can enjoy stunning 360° views across the beautiful town of Lewes and the green Sussex countryside.
This is a true gem of a golf course and with the excellent work and year-round maintenance that goes into this course, it is in prime condition for you to play all year round as the greens are as good in the summer as they are in the winter. Although the course is not considered to be long at 6,253 yards, it feels longer as a lot of your 2nd shots are uphill as the course is very hilly and requires more clubs that you would usually play with. The course is always challenging with its undulating fairways, unforgiving rough and many blind shots which make a round here a tough one even for the most discerning golfer and due to its position on the top of the downs, when the winds are up it can be even more difficult for you to keep your ball on course! This is a truly beautiful golf course and one that will provide you with a challenging but interesting and scenic round.

    Full details

Lewes Golf Club prides itself on being a friendly and welcoming course to both members and non-members alike and you will always receive a warm welcome when you come to play here. The club boasts excellent facilities including a driving range, a golf pro shop and a clubhouse where you can enjoy a few drinks and a bite to eat after your round. You can also hire golf buggies for your round which might be a good idea due to how hilly this course is.
The front 7 holes of the course are relatively straightforward but when the wind is up, the remainder of the course can prove a real challenge and you should be proud if you finish with a good scorecard here on a windy day especially as the greens are all in impeccable condition and run very fast. When you are on the 8th green you are at the highest point of the course and you can enjoy 360° views of the North Downs and down south out to sea.
This is a brilliant course and with its beautiful views and interesting layout it is not one that you should pass up a round on.
