Thorpeness Golf Club - Championship Course

  • Thorpeness Golf Club has hosted many county and regional events in the past years and despite its modest length at just over 6,500 yards it is considered to be a real test of golf. This fantastic course boasts a unique layout next to the Suffolk Heritage Coastline.
The course boasts a brilliant layout created by James Braid and is situated just under half a mile from the sea and although it isn't the usual traditional seaside links course, it boasts its own charming layout with a mix of heath, gorse, pine and silver birch. The course is laid out predominantly over sandy soil which makes the playing conditions fast but fair even in the early season. The course is a tricky one with strategically placed bunkers situated along the fairways which means that you have to make some tactful decisions and take some risks if you want to score well on the course. Of course, being so close to the sea means that this tricky course can be made even more challenging when the sea breeze is up! Each hole flows effortlessly to the next one and a round of golf here is an enjoyable one with some fantastic views of the sunny Suffolk countryside.
