Both the Old Course and Ian Woosnam designed course are uniquely positioned in over 350 acres of undulating hills and beautiful, historic woodland and both offers a unique golfing experience to all of their visitors.

The course is almost 6,000 yards and is a great par-69 (par-70 for ladies), it opened in 1973 and offers golfers of all abilities a chance to test their skills on a great and very scenic course. The courses at Dale Hill Golf Club are very different and both require different play in order to finish the round with a good scorecard. The Dale Hill Course requires a lot more course management but the greens are trickier and the fairways are tighter. The Old Course is always in superb condition regardless of what time of year you are looking to play. It is highly recommended to get a buggy when you are playing the Old Course as it is very hilly like the Woosnam Course. If you are looking for a course that can test golfers of all abilities but allow you to have the chance to finish the round with a good scorecard then the coures at Dale Hill Golf Club are great courses for you play on a golf escape to East Sussex.

Course Info

A stay at Dale Hill Hotel is never a bad decision partly due to its fantastic golf courses which are both on-site of the hotel. Like at the hotel, the staff at the golf club are always helpful and friendly and will do their best to assist you so that whether you are staying within the hotel or just at the club for a round of golf, you will have an enjoyable time.
The course is quite exposed to the wind which can make it more difficult when the wind is blowing but the greens are always in great condition and run fast but fairly. The first nine on the Old Course lulls you into a false sense of security as the back nine is a firm but fair test of golf for golfers of all abilities. This is a beautiful course and one that will leave a lasting impression for a long time after you leave Dale Hill Golf Club.

The whole trip was excellent value.

Our group of 4 golfers have just returned from a most enjoyable 3 day trip to the Isle of Wight. The short ferry crossing works very efficiently, we even managed to get on the return ferry despite arriving about 10 minutes before departure. Day 1 we played 9-hole Osbourne, a lovely parkland course close to the House and with occasional sea views. Day 2 we were at Freshwater Bay, fortunately in the most benign conditions as it is quite exposed but with fantastic sea views and many great holes. Our final day was at Sandown and Shanklin which is clearly the best club on the island and where (despite the delayed start which) we played some cracking holes. Our Travel Lodge in Newport worked very well for us and the whole trip was excellent value.

Excellent service.

Long weekend away April 2019. Great golf, accommodation, food etc at Avisford Park. We have used Golf Escapes many times and they never fail to deliver. We are already planning next year with Golf Escapes.

This is the fourth time we have used Golf Escapes. In the past it has been to France although this year we went to the Isle of Wight. We were concerned about Brexit. Every part of each visit has been a success with the golf, travel and the hotels. An important element is that we deal with a person who can always be contacted. We find the staff both friendly and knowledgeable. We are already planning next year with Golf Escapes.

Nothing’s too much trouble.

Golf Escapes arranged for 9 of us to stay at The East Sussex National. After booking we had to make some minor adjustments and had a few questions which was handled as if nothing’s too much trouble.
