For a stern test of golf on a beautiful landscape, the Golf d’Aro Mas Nou is an unbeatable option.
At the Golf d’Aro Mas Nou, players can enjoy a wonderfully idyllic round of golf on the only golf course in the Costa Brava that offers sea views. The golf course sits in an elevated position three hundred metres above sea level, creating the opportunity for golfers to enjoy captivating views across the Mediterranean Sea and the neighbouring mountains. Just two years after its creation in 1990, the Golf d’Aro Mas Nou was awarded the Best European Golf Course by the European Society of Golf Course Architects. Since its creation the Golf d’Aro Mas Nou has not struggled to attract golfers back to play time and time again, despite the creation of other fantastic golf courses in the Costa Brava.

The architect of the Golf d’Aro Mas Nou, Ramon Espinosa, created a fantastic golf course that incorporated all of the landscapes stunning features. The golf course is surrounded by pine, cork and olive trees as well as most of the landscape’s original greenery and fauna. Each and every hole on the golf course has its own distinct characteristics; two of the holes on the golf course play directly down the side of the golf course, creating a truly unique layout. With such creativity used in its creation, the Golf d’Aro Mas Nou one of the best golfing designs we have seen.
The main challenge at the Golf d’Aro Mas Nou for players is to remember to focus on their game and stop being so distracted by the stunning views. Both amateurs and experienced golfers will find their skills tested here with two huge lakes that come into play at a few of the holes. The challenge is slightly alleviated by the relatively wide fairways; however, it just means that any long hitter will be exposed to the prevailing sea breeze. It is fair to say that wayward hitters may want to stock up their ball supply before playing! Furthermore, the Golf d’Aro Mas Nou is an impressive 6,800 yards from the back tees and plays to a par of 72, however distance is not a player’s biggest challenge at this golf course.
