Isla Canela Old Course Golf Holidays
The Costa de la Luz is known for its consistently warm and reliable climate meaning the fantastic Isla Canela Old Course can be enjoyed nearly all year round. Isla Canela Old is a popular golf course amongst both amateurs and low handicappers due to its range of tee off options and straightforward nature. Just because the golf course has been described as ‘straightforward’, by no means does it mean it is a boring golf course. The architects of the golf course have perfectly blended the natural landscape into the spectacular golf course that stands today. The landscape was originally a marshland, meaning a range of unique obstacles have been created throughout.
Golf buggies are not an essential at the Isla Canela Old as it is very walkable with little undulation across the golf course. Whilst the golf course is fairly flat, there is still an abundance of hazards to trip players up and hinder their scorecard. There are some tricky dog-leg holes shaped around the landscape’s natural fauna consisting of orange, olive and eucalyptus trees. Isla Canela Old is widely renowned for the immaculate condition of its greens and perfectly manicured fairways, so it comes as no surprise that it is one of the best-known golf courses in the area.
The most demanding hole on the course includes the 14th hole with a stroke index one. Here, golfers must overcome a tricky left dog leg to then conquer a lengthy closing stretch. To heighten the challenge, the dog leg is lined by large eucalyptus trees ready to capture any wayward shots. Once players reach past the dog leg, they are met with a large lake protecting the right side of the fairway; this hole demands a lot of accuracy.
