Royal Cape Golf Club
The Royal Cape was South Africa’s first golf course having been founded in 1885 before moving to its current site in 1906. In 1910 King George V conferred it with ‘royal’ status, and that same year it hosted the first of its ten South African Opens.
Over more than 100 years the golf course at Royal Cape has evolved into what it is today, a classic parkland course that provides a fine test of golf as well as a wonderful playing experience. The course (Par 72 – 6,131 yards off the back tees) is fairly flat, tree lined with narrow fairways and is in superb condition year round, with well grassed fairways, smooth greens and challenging bunkers. Numerous ponds and lakes play their part in making a round at the Royal Cape a challenging yet enjoyable experience.
