Salobre Golf – Old Course

The pro shop and reception are based at the hotel, and it is from here you will take the buggy and drive to the 1st tee through the resort. On the 1st tee you will have a magical panoramic view of the whole of the Old course, with the Atlantic Ocean as the backdrop.

The designer, Roland Favré (an associate of Trent Jones), made good use of the rolling terrain and natural ravines to create an excellent test of golf that players of all handicappers will be able to appreciate. Holes across the course offer tees of alternating heights, and the course is known for its deceiving wide fairways with small greens.

The signature hole on the course is the 200-metre 11th, where the tee shot is played downhill, to an offset green with a large bunker on the front right edge of the putting surface. The tee is unique and sits on the edge of the hillside, very little bail out areas on this hole be warned. Another great par 3 is the 8th much shorter than the 11th it plays downhill to the green just over the pond.

The course features elevated tees and you will be punished for not using all of your skills. The natural features of the landscape have been perfectly facilitated to create an unforgettable round of golf. With ravines, volcanic earth and breath-taking panoramic views of the mountain and sea, a round on the Salobre Old Course will stand out in your memory for years to come. Over 600 species of plants and trees have been planted here to enhance its natural beauty, and some holes are reminiscent of Arizona courses with a remote desert setting in spectacular surroundings.
