Sandford Springs

  • Sandford Springs Golf Club boasts three loops of nine holes and is situated in the rolling hills of Watership Down in Hampshire. The course boasts an enviable location where you can enjoy panoramic views over Berkshire and Hampshire.

The course was designed by the famous Hawtree & Son firm and in 1989, the first 18 holes were opened by Sir Nick Faldo. With three different loops of nine holes, the layout is varied and poses an enjoyable challenge to golfers of all abilities. The Park loop requires you to play strategically and place your shots well despite the wind that is often blowing on this loop due to its height. The Wood loop is the second loop and is arguably the most difficult out of the three loops here, you must carefully navigate your way round the loop with its elevation changes and challenging holes. The final loop is The Lakes which is tricky to play due to the fact that there are many strategically placed water hazards along the loop. This is a great golf club with a wide variety of holes and challenges to take on which makes it the perfect addition to your next golf break in the UK.

    Full details

The club is surrounded by beautiful surroundings and the facilities at Sandford Springs Golf Club are always up to scratch with pleasant and helpful staff to make your visit to the club as enjoyable as possible. Before your round, you can enjoy practicing on the driving range and after your round, you must visit the clubhouse for some great food and several cold beverages.
Although the Wood loop is considered to be the most difficult set of nine holes out of the three loops with its mature trees that create a natural challenge, the Lakes loop requires accuracy with every shot due to the fact that there are many strategically placed water hazards to navigate your way around. With the Park loop being classed as the easiest, the competition 18 is classed to be comprised of the Lakes and the Wood loop but each set of nine has its own signature hole.
This is a superb golf course and one that is perfect companion to the Sandford Springs Hotel where you can stay and play the course. As the course boasts 27 holes you can mix and match the loops to find your favourite whilst you are on your next golf escape in the UK.
