The Castle Course at St Andrews
The Castle Course is the seventh course to be created under the St Andrews Links Banner and is a great addition to this mecca of golf. The course has been spectacularly carved on cliffs which overlook the historic town of St Andrews, a wonderful backdrop over the 18 holes.
Open for play in 2008 and designed by the highly acclaimed course architect David Maclay Kidd, who has showcased his talent in creating a championship style course and a fantastic addition to the St Andrews Links portfolio.
The Castle Course is nestled in between St Andrews town and the popular Fairmont St Andrews resort, which provides panoramic views of Auld Grey Toon and St Andrews Bay. Its sits on the same stretch of land as the fantastic layout at Kingsbarns, offering the perfect land formation to create an astonishing golf course in every right.
The Castle Course, a modern links design, offers 5 sets of tees ranging from 5300 yards to 7200 yards, making it a great option for all levels of golfer. The course divides opinion due to the sheer challenge it presents, however a straight drive and accurate putting will prevail. The wind also plays apart on this cliff top links, whilst the heavy undulations and fast greens will keep you on your toes.
The clubhouse here, features a restaurant with stunning views across the bay and comes complete with excellent practice facilities to ensure you sharpen up to try your hand at this testing layout.
The Castle Course completes the fine collection of world class golf courses at St Andrews and is a great addition to your Scotland golf itinerary.
