Gullane Golf Club – No. 2 Course.
Your Next Golf Escape Starts Here.
Laid out by Willie Park Jr in 1898 is the brilliant Gullane No. 2 course. Although the course is younger and shorter than the Gullane No. 1 course, it is no spring chicken and boasts a stern test of golf and plenty of charm and character.
Although the course is not a very long one at just over 6,000 yards, do not be lulled into a false sense of security as it is known for its difficult, short holes. The fairways of the course are formed around and over Gullane Hill and some of the greens and fairways seem only feet from the roadside. The course features a flat beginning before you begin a steady climb up Gullane Hill. This is a very scenic course with a feeling of openness at Gullane with wide and open fairways, but this doesn’t mean that you will have an easy round here as there are plenty of hazards for you to contend with if you are hoping to finish your round with a pleasant-looking scorecard. Gullane No. 2 is a brilliant course and a trip to Gullane Golf Club whilst you are enjoying a golf break in Scotland would never be a disappointment.
Gullane Golf Club boasts three incredible golf courses and golf has been being played at the club for over 350 years, so it is fair to say that this is a very well-established golf club with three courses in excellent condition. The staff at the club are all friendly and helpful; they will make sure that you have an excellent golfing experience at the club – regardless of which course you have come to enjoy. The opening hole of the course is considered to be a gentle opening par-4 but does feature a few fierce bunkers positioned on the right. There are a few very shot par-4s which can make things very tricky as there are also many strategically placed bunkers which may deter you from hitting long shots. The first seven holes of the course run alongside Gullane No.1 but then the course turns to run alongside Aberlady Bay and the nature reserve whilst boasting stunning views across the Firth of Forth. A standout hole is the par-3 11th which is a long, downhill hole. The green is heavily guarded by three pot bunkers at the front, however, you can hit long as there is room to over-shoot the green – as long as you haven’t had too many shots already! This is a very special course which is always in superb condition and offers golfers to enjoy some beautiful Scottish countryside.
