Royal Troon - Old Course



The Royal Troon Old Course is world renowned as one of the best links courses and has even hosted The Open Championship on nine occasions.
Royal Troon Golf Club was founded in 1878 and is home to two spectacular courses, The Old Cousre and Portland Course, which both offer a thrilling links style challenge. The Old Course is the more famous of the two, ranked amongst the top courses in Scotland, and should be on every golfers wish list. The Portland course promises a great round, whilst offering the same stunning scenery as the former.
The irresistible land in which the course sits, boasts rolling fairways a rugged rough of gorse and broom, typical for a links layout, however Royal Troon is something special. The course, which stretches just over 7,200 yards from the championship tees, is separated from the Firth of Clyde beach by high sand dunes making a beautiful surrounding
Look out for the famous 8th hole, the postage stamp, a challenging hole in every right and only just over 100 yards long. Royal Troon can also claim to have the longest Par 5 in Open Championship Golf with the 6th being just over 600 yards.
This superb golfing experience incorporates the very essence of the original game with a battling wind to contend with and a deep rough consisting of gorse and broom. The back nine here faces against the prevailing North Westerly wind which makes it an intriguing challenge and one not to be missed.
