Real Club Valderrama is home to the Volvo Masters, Ryder Cup, and World Golf Championship, and is worthy of being voted as Europe’s number one golf course. With tee times restricted to between 11.30 and 14.00 for outsiders, Valderrama is underplayed and always in excellent condition. Play it, if you can justify paying the green fee, you’ll remember it forever.
La Reserva de Sotogrande
La Reserva de Sotogrande is the longest course on the coast, measuring 6721 meters, but thankfully there are five tee positions so everyone can play it. Walking among the indigenous cork trees and gazing across to the glistening Mediterranean and distant Rock of Gibraltar, you’re sure to believe there is nowhere better to play golf.
Finca Cortesin
Finca Cortesin is set in a dramatic valley, the course stretches to over 7,000 yards, but we wouldn’t recommend playing from the black tees… trust us, it’s plenty tough enough from the yellow! The course offers so many wonderful holes that it is difficult to choose one for special recognition. Although, one of our favourites would have to be the short par 4, 4th hole which is a great risk and reward hole.
