Your Next Golf Escape Starts Here.
The Duchess Course at Woburn Golf Club is the shortest of the three courses at Woburn, but it is also the prettiest.
Although the big competitions and accolades are held on the Duke and Marquess courses, the Duchess Course is incredible in its own right and provides an excellent challenge to golfers of all abilities.
The course was designed by Charles Lawrie and opened for play in 1979. Although it isn’t considered to be as difficult as the other two Woburn Golf Club courses – Marquess and Duke’s – it is still a stern challenge at 6,651 yards from the back tees. This is a tight course due to the tall pine trees that surround it and it is not forgiving of a wayward shot, it is also a course that will need you to show off your repertoire of shots and use every club in the bag in order to score well. Although the course is a challenge, if you keep your ball in play you should be able to end the round with a smile on your face. Make sure that you don’t overlook the Duchess Course next time you are thinking about a golf break to Buckinghamshire as this course is a true gem.

Course Info
This course, like the other Woburn courses, presents you with a difficult challenge right from the 1st tee which means that it might be a good idea to have a warm-up at the driving range before teeing off. After your round, you can enjoy a great meal and a few drinks at the clubhouse.
The course boasts a variety of different holes and although the course seems very tight due to the towering pine trees, you will sometimes need to drive for distance in order to score well. There are some particularly interesting and challenging par 3s along the course including the 7th which features a huge bunker front and right as well as danger to the left. A particularly impressive hole is the 15th which is a doglegged par-5 where anything other than a perfectly straight drive means that your ball will end up in the trees and anything short leaves you with a blind second shot.
The Duchess Course at Woburn Golf Club is a special course and its layout demands as much respect as the other two courses within Woburn Golf Club. This is a must-play course for any discerning golfer and combined with the other courses at the club, you have an ideal golf break set-up for you.
