Ballybunion Golf Club - Old Course

When playing golf in County Kerry Ballybunion Golf Club is a must for any itinerary. The Old course is a breath taking course that who first opening was in 1893 under the name “The Golf Links of Kerry”. Unfortunately due to financial difficulties the course closed in 1898 and was not re-opened until 1906 which is when it took the name Ballybunion Golf Club. For the next few decades the course grew in reputation and in 1926 the course was set to extend to a full 18. This proved to be a great success and in 1932 the Irish Ladies Championship was help at Ballybunion Golf Course. Following the success of this championship a number of other high profile events were held at the course including its first professional championship in 1957.
