The Event
The Solheim Cup is fast becoming one of the best spectacles in golf. I am sure most of you will remember the moment Suzann Pettersen sank the putt to win the 2019 Solheim cup for Europe and close the curtain on her glittering golf career. Fast forward to 2021 and one of the most dominant performances by a European team to retain the cup and claim only their second victory on US soil.
With momentum on its side, the 2023 Solheim Cup will undoubtedly be another brilliant occasion. The best women in the game from the USA and Europe will battle it out in September in the Costa del Sol. You could be there to witness the result, soak in the atmosphere and be part of history being made.
The Venue
Finca Cortesin is located between Sotogrande and Estepona in the Costa del Sol, Spain. This fantastic venue will play host to this incredible occasion. For a flagship event such as this, the venue must match the prestige and Finca Cortesin certainly does that. Designed by Cabell B. Robinson and opened in 2007, the course has quickly become one of the most desirable places to play in the Costa del Sol. Finca Cortesin is part of a collection of courses known as “Spain’s Finest” and it certainly deserved its place here. The course measures over 7000 yards and offers a true test for the players. It is no stranger to hosting important match play events having held the World Matchplay Tournament on several occasions. There is no doubt that Finca Cortesin will be an exceptional place for one of the greatest spectacles in the professional game.
