Golf breaks to Clovelly Country Club
Situated a few miles south of Cape Town is the course at Clovelly Country Club, designed and laid out in Fish Hoek (Silvermine) Valley the course dates back to 1934. The Silvermine River comes into play so don't say you haven't been warned. Clovelly is unique in that it follows neither the links nor the American tradition in its design, it is a golf course of character.
Clovelly Country Club is best described as a moderate length (Par 72, 5 531 yards off the club tees) but rather tight course that needs accuracy. The layout is one of water hazards to challenge you and the course is in and a among the sand dunes, again we emphasis that accuracy rather than length will pay dividends.
Having said that, there are a number of drives on this course with one of the best being the tight par four 4th with a stream to your left. What is more, a pond guards the green for the approach shot. The 1st and the 10th both play from elevated tees into the valley and both challenge you with 90 degree dog legs.
