Royal Dornoch Golf Club - Championship Course
The Championship Course is set on a truly stunning location in the North of Scotland, in a wild and isolated position, where the white sandy beach divides the links from the Dornoch Firth, making a beautiful setting as you make your way through your round.
It is rumoured that Royal Dornoch would have held numerous Open Championships would it not have been for its Northern location, but then again that’s what makes this course an absolute beauty.
Offering unforgettable views of the Dornoch Firth, the course boasts challenging and unique holes, gorse lined fairways, where the blend of colours in the summer really stands out. The famous upturn saucer greens are world renowned here so make sure your bring you’re A game.
Royal Dornoch was designed by Tom Morris in 1895, who emphasised the sheer beauty and rugged tranquillity of a natural Scotland when constructing the layout. It is written that golf was played here as early as 1630, well before the first 18 hole golf course was formed and many years before the modern game we see today.
Look out for the signature 14th, renowned as the most difficult hole on the course, where there are no man made hazards, just a series of hillocks, which advance up to a narrow contoured green. The hole reflects the natural beauty of the game and how golf courses where originally designed.
