Arrival Day in Cape Town
  • The Vineyard Hotel
  • Clovelly Country Club
  • When you touch down in Cape Town, you’ll be met for your private transfer to The Vineyard Hotel, set in the leafy suburb of Newlands beneath the eastern slopes of Table Mountain. The hotel is known for its calm, spacious gardens, walking paths along the Liesbeek River, and a relaxed atmosphere that makes it an easy place to settle in after your journey.

The setting feels peaceful but still very convenient, with cafés and restaurants nearby and easy access to the city, beaches, and the wine regions. Day 2
Clovelly Golf Day
  • The Vineyard Hotel
  • Clovelly Country Club
  • Today you’ll play Clovelly Country Club, a friendly, down-to-earth course known for its natural setting. The layout isn’t overly long, but it rewards good accuracy, with tree-lined fairways, gentle doglegs, and a few well-placed water features that keep things interesting without feeling punishing.

It is set between sand dunes and natural fynbos. The fynbos here adds real character—low shrubs, wildflowers and proteas, and on warm days a fresh, herbal scent drifts across the course as you walk the fairways.

Your morning begins with a scenic drive down the Cape Peninsula to Cape Point, taking in rugged cliffs, ocean views, and plenty of photo stops along the way. There’s time to wander the viewpoints, spot local wildlife, and enjoy the wide-open coastal scenery the area is known for.

In the afternoon, you’ll return to the city and make your way up Table Mountain by cable car (weather permitting). The views from the top stretch across Cape Town, the coastline, and the surrounding mountains—one of those moments that really brings the whole region into perspective.

After your visit, head back to your hotel to relax or explore the local area.

It’s a straightforward, enjoyable round with enough features to keep things interesting without ever feeling rushed or crowded.

After golf, you’ll travel into the Cape Winelands and check in at Oude Werf Hotel in Stellenbosch. The area has a slower, more relaxed pace, with tree-lined streets, cafés, and wine estates all around you—an ideal base for the next few days.

Language

English is widely spoken in Cape Town, the Winelands, and at all golf clubs, hotels, and restaurants, so UK travellers will have no difficulty communicating.

Currency

The local currency is the South African Rand (ZAR). Cards are widely accepted, but it’s useful to carry some cash for small purchases and tips.

Weather & Climate

The Cape has a Mediterranean climate with warm, dry summers and cooler, wetter winters. The best time to visit is between October and April when conditions are ideal for golf and outdoor activities. Summer temperatures usually range from 24–30°C, while winter days are milder at around 12–18°C.

Time Difference

South Africa is UTC +2 and does not observe daylight savings. The UK is generally two hours behind South Africa, shifting to one hour behind during British Summer Time.

Flights & Travel Time (from the UK)

Direct flights from London to Cape Town take around 11–12 hours. Travellers flying from regional UK airports will usually connect through a major hub, with total travel times of around 14–18 hours.

Visa & Entry Requirements

UK passport holders do not need a visa for visits of up to 90 days. Passports must have two blank pages for entry stamps and be valid for at least 30 days beyond your departure date.

Health & Vaccinations

No specific vaccinations are required for Cape Town or the Winelands, and the region is malaria-free. Tap water is generally safe to drink, and healthcare facilities in major cities are of a high standard.

Safety

Cape Town and the Winelands are popular with visitors and generally straightforward to explore. Normal travel awareness applies: stay in well-known areas, use reputable transport in the evenings, and keep valuables secure.
