About

About Solebre Golf - New Course

Salobre Golf’s New Course is making a very welcome return.

Designed by Ron Kirby in 2008, it is the more adventurous of Salobre’s two courses, shaped around the island’s volcanic terrain rather than a more conventional resort layout. Ravines, rocky outcrops and changes in elevation give the round a distinctive feel from the outset.

Following a major programme of improvements under David Williams’ master plan, the full 18-hole course returns from November 2026.

Together with the Old Course, this brings Salobre back to a complete 36-hole resort.

At par 70, the New Course is not simply about distance. Accuracy, club selection and good course management all matter, particularly when the terrain is ready to punish anything too ambitious. It is scenic, strategic and refreshingly different.

Back to a Full 36 Holes

The reopening is an important moment for Salobre Golf.

For the past few years, the resort has operated as a 27-hole complex, with only nine holes of the New Course available.

From November 2026, golfers will once again be able to play two complete 18-hole layouts during the same stay.

That makes Salobre an even more appealing choice for a relaxed stay-and-play break.

A Course with Real Character

The New Course makes the most of its setting.

Its holes run through volcanic ravines and rugged terrain, with elevated viewpoints and dramatic rock formations creating a memorable backdrop.

The scenery is a big part of the experience, but the landscape also has a real influence on the way the course plays.

This is a round that rewards a sensible approach. Choose your shots carefully and it is hugely enjoyable.

Pair It with the Old Course

The New Course and the Salobre Golf Old Course work brilliantly together because they offer two noticeably different rounds.

The Old Course is the more established layout, with a slightly more traditional resort feel.

The New Course is bolder and more dramatic, with its volcanic scenery and more adventurous character.

Playing both adds plenty of variety to a Canary Islands golf holiday without the need to organise transfers between courses.

Where to Stay

The natural hotel pairing is Salobre Hotel Resort & Serenity, the five-star hotel within the resort.

Set in the hills above Maspalomas, it has a peaceful feel, with swimming pools, a spa and plenty of space to unwind after golf.

With both Salobre courses on site, it is an easy and appealing base for a Gran Canaria golf holiday with a little extra sunshine and plenty of variety.

Practice Facilities

Salobre also has a strong range of practice facilities.

The resort’s Practice Mile is designed for both long and short-game work, while the golf academy offers professional tuition for different abilities.

Trackman technology is available for golfers looking for a more detailed analysis of their swing and ball flight.

When to Play

Gran Canaria is a brilliant choice for winter golf, with a mild year-round climate and plenty of sunshine when conditions back in the UK are less appealing.

With the full New Course returning from November 2026, winter 2026/27 will be an especially good time to revisit Salobre or discover it for the first time.
