If you love golf and you love nature, then this is a course you will enjoy. Benamor has some great sea and mountain views, and the fairways are lined with various types of trees; fig, cork olive, and carob trees are in abundance and add to the sense that you are in the countryside.
Designed by Sir Henry Cotton, a British Open champion and long-term resident of The Algarve, the course is not long by modern standards. The clubhouse is a rustically converted old church and is one of the most interesting along the coast. Both nines start and finish right by the clubhouse for players’ convenience.
The course starts gently to enable you to get a few points under your belt but then bites you! The fairways are not tight but the rough, trees and sloping terrain can be punishing. Each hole has been designed to take advantage of the terrain and there is a great mix of easy and challenging holes. This is a very popular course with its friendly relaxed welcome, convenient location, good value green fee, stunning views, and enjoyable layout, it is easy to see why.
