Campo de Golf de Maspalomas
In the midst of a breath-taking landscape consisting of sand dunes and palm trees is the Maspalomas course, two time host to the European PGA Tour and a must-play course on your next golf escape to Gran Canaria. Despite measuring a mere 6,189 yards, golfers must still bring their A-game for an unforgettable round.
Players will find that this course is not too difficult to score well on as the course is reasonably forgiving to errant shots. There is however a par 3 over water, bunkers, numerous picturesque palm trees and the ever-present sea breeze which can often hinder the player’s scorecard. Flat and easily walkable, Maspalomas is a very enjoyable and relaxing course, and it has also hosted 2 European PGA Tour events – a testament to its quality. This course is ideally situated in a key area in this captivating island, and luckily Gran Canaria is one of the places in the world with the most hours of sunshine per year therefore players are spoilt with a chance to play this fabulous course all year round.
The Maspalomas Dunes Nature Reserve, a 400 acre protected area, acts as a back drop for this course, and influenced Mackenzie Ross when designing this course. Multiple holes run directly parallel to these dunes therefore if you should hit it off target, you could find yourself trying to tackle a very large bunker. Despite its neighbouring dunes, the course is predominantly flat with broad and spacious fairways. These open fairways are easily made a target by the coastal winds from the Atlantic, therefore players must proceed with caution at some holes.

The course does not feature many water hazards; they will only come into play on the 16th hole. As opposed to using water hazards to trip up players, the course features several well-placed bunkers. However it would be wrong to say that this course is by any means vicious; as the most popular course on the island it welcomes players of all abilities with open arms. With generous run off areas and good quality greens, a round on the Campo de Golf de Maspalomas golf course is not to be missed.
This course features excellent practice facilities, including two qualified PGA teachers at the golf academy available for tuition. For players looking to fine tune their game, they can practice on the putting and pitching green, and the two-tier driving range. At the clubhouse golfers can find all essential golfing clothing, accessories and equipment in the pro shop, and enjoy a well-deserved meal after an unforgettable round tackling the greens.
