Cork Golf Club

  • Cork Golf Club is arguably one of the most beautiful courses in Ireland and boasts a delightful location situated on Little Island which enable you to enjoy stunning views from the course over Cork Harbour.

This championship parkland course measures 6,731 yards from the back tees and has challenged some of the best players over the years when the club has hosted many major amateur and professional championships including the Irish Open. Cork Golf Club is a great test of golf with strategically placed hazards, undulating fairways and many long par 3s and so although you may come out with a damaged score card, this is a fantastic and unforgettable round of golf and if you are a fan of Mackenzie courses with fiendish greens and their unique layouts then make sure that this is on your list next time you are planning a golf break to Ireland. The club boasts many unusual features including the disused limestone quarry which holes from six to ten are set in. With a variety in landscapes as well as spectacular views and interesting holes, this is a superb golf course and a must-play when you are next on a golf holiday in Ireland.

The opening holes are quite gentle and offer you a chance to warm up and maybe even get a birdie or two in before the course gets trickier. The 4th hole is a demanding par 4 and is a classic risk reward hole where you must carry your tee shot across rough to reach a distant undulating fairway. This is a tricky course with some interesting holes throughout but even when you reach the 17th hole there is no letting up as the last two holes are tricky finishers.

This is an impressive and tricky course where Mackenzie has combined an old quarry and the undulating links-like ground to create this marvellous golf course and so it is no surprise that this course ranks as the 34th best course in Ireland.
