Three brilliant architects of the early 20th century – Colt, Braid and Fowler – all had a hand in shaping this brilliant course into what it looks like today. Despite the fact that this is an old course, it is not short by any means as it stands at 6,700m from the new “Darwin” back tees and will prove a stern test to golfers with even the lowest handicaps and is widely considered to be the hardest links course in the British Isles. Due to the many hazards that are present both on and off the fairway, the course features punishing rough and rough-edged bunkers which are attractive but lethal to your scorecard.
When the wind is blowing this can be one of the most picturesque but challenging courses you may ever have the fortune to play and a round here should not be missed out on and it really isn’t hard to see why.
