The Golf Course

Jameson Golf Links spreads across 203 acres of historic coastal land. The layout makes good use of the natural dunes and rolling terrain, with elevated tees and greens, pot bunkers, doglegs and the occasional blind approach keeping you on your toes.

There are lovely views towards the Irish Sea and Howth Peninsula, but this is not simply a scenic round. When the breeze picks up, club selection becomes particularly important and the links character really comes into its own.

A Course with a Fresh Look

The original course was designed by Bernhard Langer and Stan Eby, opening for play in 1995. More recently, the layout has undergone a significant transformation, with improvements to the routing, bunkering and coastal views.

The result is a modern links experience that still feels very much at home in its natural setting.

Championship History

Jameson Golf Links has hosted both professional and amateur events over the years. These include the Ladies Irish Open in 2008 and 2009, as well as the Irish Challenge in 2021.

The 2021 event was particularly notable, as Jameson Golf Links became the first Irish links course to host the tournament.

Nearby Hotels

Portmarnock Resort & Jameson Golf Links is on site, making this an ideal course for a relaxed stay-and-play break. Set beside the Velvet Strand, the resort has a spa and several places to eat and drink, including the Jameson Bar, The Seaview and The 1780 Restaurant.

Portmarnock Golf Club is just 2km away, around five minutes by car. Combining the two courses gives you an excellent coastal golf break without spending too much time travelling between rounds.

Location

Jameson Golf Links is in Portmarnock, around 10km from Dublin Airport and 13km from Dublin city centre. The resort gives approximate journey times of 12 minutes from the airport and 20 minutes from the city.

Its location makes it particularly appealing for a short break: you can enjoy links golf beside the coast and still head into Dublin for an evening out.

When to Go

Spring, summer and early autumn are the most popular times to play Jameson Golf Links, with longer daylight hours and more time to enjoy the coast.

Summer green fees apply from April to October, while winter golf offers a quieter and often better-value option.

As with any Irish links course, the sea breeze and changeable weather are part of the experience. Bring a waterproof layer and be prepared to adapt your game as the conditions shift.
