The course features a natural mix of coastal dunes and spectacular ocean views and was crafted by the legendary golf course architect Robert Trent Jones Jr, who took advantage of the undulating terrain to provide an unforgettable 27-hole layout. Originally a pleasant 18-hole course, Palmares was bought, dug up, re-designed and re-opened in spectacular fashion in 2011.
There are three distinctive loops: the Alvor, Lagos, and Praia courses. Each course presents its own set of challenges and rewards, ensuring an enjoyable experience for golfers of all skill levels. From elevated tee boxes to strategically positioned bunkers and water hazards, Palmares demands both accuracy and strategic thinking from golfers.
One of the standout features of Palmares is its breath-taking views of the Atlantic Ocean and the neighbouring Meia Praia beach. Several holes on the Praia course offer close-up panoramas of the adjacent sparkling blue waters and golden sandy beach. It is a very special experience.
