The golf course sits next to the Ria Formosa Estuary which flows out into the Atlantic Ocean, this means golfers have the test of both Links and parkland golf throughout the round. San Lorenzo was built in 1988 and designed by Joseph Lee and Rocky Roquemore. They developed a Par 72 figure of eight-course design with the clubhouse right at the heart which looks out across the exquisite Bermuda grass fairways and towering pine trees.
San Lorenzo boasts top-class facilities from practice bunkers, chipping and putting greens, a fantastic open driving range, and finally, a pro shop partnered with a wonderful clubhouse that looks out onto the picturesque golf course.
The golf course is consistently featured in the top-rated courses in Portugal and Europe and it’s very clear to see why. There are many signature holes on this course, but a few to note would be the Par 3 5th hole which provides a beautiful backdrop out towards the sandy beaches and the Atlantic Ocean. This leads to the Par 4 6th & 7th which run along the edge of the estuary meaning accuracy and correct club selection are paramount to success on these holes.
