El Rompido North
Opened in June 2006, the El Rompido North is the perfect complement to its sister golf course, the El Rompido South. Nestled in the heart of Andalucía, the El Rompido North is easily playable all year round due to its fantastic climate and warm sun. With spectacular views across protected Marshland, a stunning coastal location and a range of challenging holes, at the El Rompido North you are guaranteed a fantastic round of golf.
The El Rompido North is set on a more elevated landscape than the South, so the views here are widely considered to be better as they span directly over the Atlantic Ocean. Despite its direct coastal location offering beautiful views, wind frequently comes into play here meaning amateur players may find it difficult if any wind picks up their shots to send them wayward. The fairways here are not overly spacious, meaning both skilled players and higher handicappers can be accommodated for.

Compared to its sister golf course, the El Rompido North’s fairways are both longer and wider, so they are generally more suitable for the less skilled golfer. However, the back nine holes are generally considered to be difficult yet with a range of tee off options, higher handicappers can also enjoy these holes. Due to its flat landscape, the El Rompido is easily walkable and a golf buggy is not always necessary. Despite the landscape generally being flat, players must not be lured into a false sense of security as water hazards are featured in several holes and most fairways are lined by pine trees and the landscape’s original fauna. The combination of large water hazards with coastal winds created an invigorating challenge that can be enjoyed by players of all skillsets.
Marshland borders several holes on the back nine, intensifying the challenge and demanding further accuracy from players. Golfers here can enjoy a wonderfully varied round here with the front nine holes characterised by very narrow fairways, offering several ‘risk and reward’ holes. However, the back nine holes are slightly shorter in length but that is not to say that they are any easier; even more accuracy from players is demanded here due to small target greens. Despite the El Rompido North offering an invigorating challenge throughout, the golf course was designed with both skilled players and higher handicappers in mind so that all golfers in Spain can enjoy this fantastic golf course.
