Formby Ladies Golf Club
Formby Ladies Golf Club is a challenging links course situated in the middle of the famous 30 mile stretch of coastline known as Englands Golf Coast.
Formed in 1896, the course is nestled in with the elite links golf clubs with Royal Birkdale, Royal Lytham, Formby and Royal Lytham and St Annes for company. The golf club is a unique ladies only members club, however it has opened to all visitors to give the golfing world a chance to play this testing links design.
Set amongst the sand dunes and pines that Englands Golf Coast is famous for, Formby Ladies features tight fairways, a thick heathery rough and heavily protected greens. Not the longest of courses covering just over 5,356 yards, this Par 71 course offers a varied challenge where accuracy and course management are the main components to a good score. Several holes have elevated tees, giving you the opportunity to enjoy the panoramic vistas on offer.
Offering a number of challenges with a mixture of fairly flat holes, with the more adventurous holes nestled in the sandhills and pines. Greg Norman stated that the design is a perfect example of how a golf course did not need to be 7,000 to be a challenge. Some of the Par 3 holes here are some of the most difficult you will face in the UK. Formby Ladies is perfect for all levels of golfer and would make an excellent first round on your Liverpool golf break before challenging the world famous big hitters nearby.
Formby Ladies offers a superb links layout, a welcoming ambience, first class clubhouse and practice facilities… everything you require to add the course to your next Liverpool golf tour.
