Lough Erne - Castle Hume
Castle Hume is a beautiful 18-hole parkland course which is set amongst beautiful countryside. This is a well-manicured course which is a challenging but enjoyable round of golf and a perfect addition to your itinerary for your next golf break to Ireland.
Castle Hume Golf Club is surrounded by views of Castle Hume Lough and Lower Lough Erne which makes it a very scenic course that runs over 6,800 yards long. Since its opening in 1992, Castle Hume has hosted the Ulster PGA Championships for over ten years and it isn’t hard to see why this course was chosen to host. With over 7.000 trees and 30 bunkers this course can be a little challenging with many hazards waiting to catch your errant shots. A round at Castle Hume is made more challenging by the winds that are often blowing which means that you need to make sure that your shots are well-aimed in order to score well here. This is a fantastic holiday course and although it is not as well-known as its sister course – The Faldo Course – it is a great course that would be an enjoyable addition to your next golf break to North West Ireland and with a spectacular hotel next door as well as another Championship course you cannot go wrong.
18 Holes, Bar, Buggy Hire, Club Hire, Driving Range, Pro Shop, Short game practice area
Upon arrival at the Castle Hume course you will be welcomed warmly by staff and their high levels of service are offered to you throughout your trip to the course – including afterwards when you are enjoying a snack and a few cold beverages at the clubhouse!
Arguably, Castle Hume boasts some of the best facilities in the north west including a covered and flood lit driving range as well as a great clubhouse and a short game area with bunkers. With the great practice facilities here you can make sure that you are warmed up before taking on the 18-hole Championship course.
The great thing about Castle Hume Golf Club is that it is always in immaculate condition regardless of the time of year that you choose to play the course at. The fairways and greens are in perfect condition which means that they will run very true but they are a little fast so watch out for that. A few of the best holes here include the challenging 5th hole where you must avoid bunkers and water hazards and the stunning 16th hole which boasts incredible views of the course’s surroundings.
There is no doubting that this is a superb golf course with many interesting holes and beautiful views from the course which means that it is an ideal holiday course for your next golf holiday to North West Ireland!
