Our Top 6 Guide to the Best Facilities in Europe
This week’s blog is a guide to the six golf courses that have the best facilities in Europe. Whether you are planning your next golf escape based on a few superb golf courses you want to play or you want to know where to get to experience the best facilities in Europe this is a guide to help you out in both of those areas…
First up, we have the PGA Catalunya resort which boasts two superb courses – the Stadium and the Tour course. The Stadium course is considered to be one of the best courses in Europe and it isn’t hard to see why. It is a long and hilly course with some very challenging holes but with five different sets of tees it is playable by golfers of all handicaps. The Tour course is slightly easier than the Stadium course but is still a challenge for golfers of all levels with strategically placed bunkers and water hazards. There are many practice facilities here from the large natural grace practice tee to a 2,000 square-metre putting green and chipping area to the upgraded driving range with four greens, each surfaced with different grass! The resort also boasts a stunning clubhouse which has the perfect atmosphere for relaxing and enjoying a cold beverage after a fabulous round of golf on one of the courses.
The Belas golf course in Lisbon is a beautiful and hilly course that offers you fabulous views of the Sintra hills as well as the nature reserve. This course is definitely one to hire a buggy for otherwise your golf as well as your legs may suffer! The Golf Academy here is one of the most well-known in the Lisbon region and has impressive training areas including two short game areas and two putting greens. The course also boasts its own lovely clubhouse where you can relax and enjoy views out onto the course whilst sipping on a cold drink or enjoying a good meal. This is a beautiful, well-kept course with some first-class facilities and is not one to be missed out on!
Next up we have the Sueno courses in Belek, Turkey. The resort boasts two great courses, the Pines and the Dunes course which are great holiday courses to play and are always kept in perfect condition. The Dunes course is the shorter and easier of the two courses but still has some spectacular views and an interesting layout for players of all abilities to enjoy! The Pines course is a long and challenging course at 6,434 metres from the back tees with some strategically positioned bunkers and water hazards along the way! Both of the courses here will provide you with a great round of golf and a drink in the Birdie Bar afterwards is definitely not to be passed up on!
Lumine Golf Club features two fabulous golf courses, the Lakes and the Hills courses. These are both very different courses but offer the same high quality round of golf and facilities that come with the round. The Lakes course offers some simply breathtaking views of the Sèquia Major wetland area but is a challenge with water hazards appearing on 14 holes which means that accuracy is key if you hope to score near to your handicap on this course! The Hills course boasts stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea as well as a tricky round of golf! Just like its sister course, there are many strategically placed hazards but on the Hills course they are bunkers rather than lakes, these hazards combined with the length of the course make this a challenging but fun round. At the golf club, there is a putting green, a chipping green and a driving range for you to make use of before your round if you are feeling a little rusty and not ready to take on these challenging courses!
The Albatross Golf Resort, just outside the city of Prague is another fabulous course with great facilities. The course is set 420 metres above sea level which means that it has its own micro-climate and boasts the longest golf season in Europe. It is a truly stunning course with water hazards and sand bunkers just adding to the beautiful design of the course. At the resort, there are some of the highest class facilities available with a world-class golf academy as well as an updated driving range and an extensive short game practise area. The resort also boasts a superb clubhouse where you can enjoy a cold drink or a delicious meal after a round on this impressively designed course. This is another top-class course and a round here is certainly not to be missed out on.
Last, but not least is the Amendoeira Golf Resort which boasts two stunning courses, the Oceanico O’Connor and the Oceanico Faldo. The Oceanico O’Connor course is heavily dominated by water hazards which makes it a tricky round where you will have to play accurately in order to achieve a scorecard that reflects your handicap which is similar to the Oceanico Faldo course as there are many holes that require you to think about your shots carefully before teeing off! There are also some great practise facilities here and the clubhouse is very luxurious with spacious changing rooms and lounge areas as well as a great restaurant and bar area for you to enjoy after your round!
We hope that you enjoyed this week’s blog and it has provoked thoughts of your next golf break to Europe and which courses you are going to aim to play!
