Salobre Golf - Old Course
Salobre Old (formerly Salobre South) golf course is a beautiful 18-hole course just 10 minutes from Playa del Ingles and Maspalomas. This course has hosted several prestigious tournaments including the 2006 Spanish PGA and the 2001 Spanish Women’s Championship which acts as a testament to its incredible quality.
The designer, Roland Favré (an associate of Trent Jones), made good use of the rolling terrain and natural ravines to create an excellent test of golf that players of all handicappers will be able to appreciate. Holes across the course offer tees of alternating heights, and the course is known for its deceiving wide fairways with small greens. The course is mature beyond its years, and with its excellent design, condition and location, Salobre is sure to be on many golfers' itineraries for years to come.
Despite the relatively flat landscape, this course features elevated tees and you will be punished for not using all of your skills. The natural features of the landscape have been perfectly facilitated to create an unforgettable round of golf. With ravines, volcanic earth and breath-taking panoramic views of the mountain and sea, a round on the Salobre Old Course will stand out in your memory for years to come. Over 600 species of plants and trees have been planted here to enhance its natural beauty, and some holes are reminiscent of Arizona courses with a remote desert setting in spectacular surroundings.

Notable holes on this course include the par-3s which are widely considered to be the most challenging, particularly the 11th hole due to the stone lining around the green. Spectacular views are consistent across the entirety of the course; and this is made clear from the 1st tee. On this hole players must not be fearful of the cliff threatening to hinder your scorecard so early on; once they reach the green they will find with the right strategy in their putting they can score well. This hole perfectly conveys the architect’s intention to blend the course’s original landscape of stone and wood to his vision to create an unforgettable round of golf. The Old Course provides an easier golfing experience than its sister course, the New Course, due to its wider fairways.
The modern practice facilities on this course are a highlight of the Salobre Golf Club, and they include a club fitting performance centre, a golf academy and driving range. These ensure players can perfectly fine tune their game to take on this spectacular course; a must-play on your next holiday to Gran Canaria
