The Caribbean isn’t just about white-sand beaches and warm seas. It is also home to some outstanding golf courses, with dramatic coastal layouts, championship designs and several of the biggest names in golf architecture.
The Dominican Republic dominates our list, with courses by Pete Dye, P.B. Dye and Tom Fazio. Barbados and Jamaica also offer some memorable golf.

La Cana Golf Club, Dominican Republic
La Cana Golf Club is a 27-hole course at Puntacana Resort & Club, designed by P.B. Dye.
The course is divided into three nine-hole loops: Tortuga, Hacienda and Arrecife. Fourteen holes offer views of the Caribbean Sea, giving La Cana a genuine seaside feel.
Pot bunkers, lakes, railway sleepers and coastal winds provide the challenge, but this is also an enjoyable resort course for a wide range of golfers.
Its combination of ocean views and relatively accessible golf makes La Cana a particularly good choice if you want memorable Caribbean golf without every hole feeling like a test.
Where to stay for La Cana
The Westin Puntacana Resort is part of the wider Puntacana Resort & Club and provides easy access to both La Cana and Corales.
The beachfront hotel has 200 rooms and suites, an outdoor pool, spa, fitness facilities and several restaurants. Every room has a private balcony, with views varying between the gardens, pool and Caribbean Sea.
Corales Golf Course, Dominican Republic
Corales Golf Course is the more demanding of the two courses at Puntacana Resort.
Designed by Tom Fazio and opened in 2010, the 18-hole course runs through natural cliffs, bays, ocean coves, inland lakes and coral quarries.
Six holes sit directly alongside the Caribbean Sea.
The real highlight comes at the end. Holes 16, 17 and 18 form the Devil’s Elbow, with the final hole requiring a dramatic carry across the cliff-lined Bay of Corales.
Corales also hosts the Corales Puntacana Championship, the PGA TOUR event held in the Dominican Republic.
For experienced golfers looking for a tougher Caribbean course with plenty of drama, Corales is hard to beat.
Teeth of the Dog, Dominican Republic
Teeth of the Dog is the best-known of the three Pete Dye courses at Casa de Campo.
Opened in 1971, it helped establish the Dominican Republic as an international golf destination. Seven holes run alongside the Caribbean Sea, creating some of the most recognisable golf scenery in the region.
The course underwent a major restoration during 2025 and has now reopened. Improvements included renewed greens and fairways, refreshed bunkering and upgraded practice facilities.
From the back tees, Teeth of the Dog now measures 7,263 yards. Strategic bunkering, coastal winds and Dye’s clever green complexes mean that accuracy and course management matter just as much as distance.
This is the course to choose if playing one of the Caribbean’s most celebrated layouts is high on your wish list.
Dye Fore, Dominican Republic
Dye Fore offers a completely different experience at Casa de Campo.
Another Pete Dye design, it has 27 holes and some extraordinary changes in elevation.
Seven holes sit on cliffs around 300 feet above the Chavón River, with views across the river, Dominican mountains, marina and Altos de Chavón.
The 12th and 15th are particularly memorable par 3s, while the three nine-hole loops provide plenty of variety.
Dye Fore is a great choice for golfers who enjoy dramatic scenery but also want a serious golfing challenge.
The Links at Casa de Campo, Dominican Republic
The Links is the most understated of Casa de Campo’s three courses, but it shouldn’t be overlooked.
Pete Dye designed this 18-hole layout to weave through the resort’s rolling landscape. Wide fairways lead into more demanding green complexes, with sculpted bunkers, undulating putting surfaces and tall Bahia grass all coming into play.
Several holes also offer views towards the Caribbean Sea.
At just over 7,000 yards from the back tees, The Links is considered one of Dye’s more playable designs.
That makes it a good complement to the more dramatic Teeth of the Dog and Dye Fore.

Casa de Campo Resort & Villas covers around 7,000 acres near La Romana and is one of the Caribbean’s leading golf resorts.

The Country Club at Sandy Lane, Barbados
The Country Club is one of three golf courses associated with Sandy Lane on the west coast of Barbados.
Designed by Tom Fazio, the par-72 course measures 7,060 yards and features open fairways, immaculate greens and five lakes.
Its elevated position also provides views towards the Caribbean Sea.
The Country Club hosted the 2006 World Golf Championships Barbados World Cup and remains the main championship layout at Sandy Lane.
It is a good option for golfers who like plenty of room from the tee but still want water hazards and challenging greens to keep things interesting.
The Green Monkey, Barbados
The Green Monkey is Sandy Lane’s most exclusive course.
Designed by Tom Fazio and opened in 2004, the par-72 layout was carved from a former limestone quarry and measures 7,389 yards.
Exposed rock faces, elevation changes and lush fairways create a landscape unlike most other Caribbean courses.
The signature par-3 16th is instantly recognisable thanks to the green monkey-shaped bunker beside the green.
Access is deliberately limited, with Sandy Lane currently offering only a small number of tee times each day.
For exclusivity and sheer visual impact, The Green Monkey is one of the most unusual rounds in the Caribbean.
The Old Nine at Sandy Lane, Barbados
The Old Nine offers something completely different.
Dating from 1961, this nine-hole, par-36 course winds through an old mahogany grove on the original Sandy Lane estate.
At 3,345 yards, it is considerably shorter than The Country Club and The Green Monkey, but small greens and tight fairways mean accuracy is important.
It is ideal for a shorter round or for golfers who prefer precision and course management to length.

Sandy Lane occupies a beachfront setting on the Platinum Coast of Barbados and is one of the island’s best-known luxury resorts.

White Witch Golf Course, Jamaica
White Witch Golf Course sits within Jamaica’s historic Rose Hall Estate.
Designed by Robert von Hagge and Rick Baril, this 18-hole championship course measures 6,758 yards.
The course moves through rolling Jamaican countryside, using the natural changes in elevation to create dramatic holes and far-reaching views.
White Witch feels very different from the ocean-hugging courses of the Dominican Republic. Here, much of the appeal comes from the elevated terrain and lush tropical setting.
It is an excellent choice for golfers visiting Jamaica who want to include a memorable championship course in their holiday.
