Clovelly Country Club is best described as a moderate length (Par 72, 5 531 yards off the club tees) but rather tight course that needs accuracy. The layout is one of water hazards to challenge you and set among the sand dunes, again we emphasis that accuracy rather than length will pay dividends. There are a number of spectacular tee shots such as the 1st and the 10th that both play from elevated tees into the valley and challenge you with 90 degree dog legs.

Over more than 100 years the golf course at Royal Cape has evolved into what it is today, a classic parkland course that provides a fine test of golf as well as a wonderful playing experience. The course (Par 72 – 6,131 yards off the back tees) is fairly flat, tree lined with narrow fairways and is in superb condition year round, with well grassed fairways, smooth greens and challenging bunkers. Numerous ponds and lakes play their part in making a round at the Royal Cape a challenging yet enjoyable experience.

Steeped in tradition and surrounded by the stunning Hottentots Holland Mountains, is the splendid 4* Erinvale Estate Hotel & Spa. A tranquil golf resort located in Somerset West, only a 40 minute drive from Cape Town. This golf hotel & spa is set in a private garden featuring towering oak trees and cobbled paths; and is situated on-site to the breath-taking, Erinvale Golf Course.

The Erinvale Golf Club is thought of as one of the best courses in the Western Cape Province.  The layout is made from two distinct and different loops of nine which offer two different rounds of golf. The first nine is set on the relatively flat lower part of the estate, whilst the back nine is positioned on a high and undulating landscape where the beautiful views unfold before you.

The clubhouse is of the typical white Cape Dutch style overlooking the Blauuwklippen River and the Stellenbosch Mountains and is the perfect place to relax after your round with a glass (or bottle – depending on how you played) of the local produce.

Fancourt is widely considered to be one of South Africa’s top leisure resorts, set in the heart of the stunning Garden Route. This 5* hotel with 4 golf courses on-site, all surrounded by the beautiful scenery of the Western Cape, will certainly be an excellent choice for your next golf break.

A round at the Outeniqua begins in front of the outside deck of Monet’s restaurant so be prepared to play to an audience. This opening undulating hole, a short par 4, gives a solid impression of what lies ahead. The water hazards on 11 of the holes need your consideration and the challenge of a well bunkered course from tee to green will punish any wayward shots. The Outeniqua, unlike the Montagu, only returns to the clubhouse after 18 holes. However, there is a separate halfway house to ensure you are refreshed mid-round.

Since opening in the early 90’s, Fancourt’s Montagu and Outeniqua Golf Courses have matured and developed into two of the finest 18-hole parkland layouts in the country ranked 8th and 17th in the country. respectively.  A round on either is a special experience, sculpted and finished as they are, with rare attention to detail and designed with the coastal George winds in mind.
