About Tralee Golf Club
Founded in 1896, Tralee Golf Club moved to its present location at West Barrow in October 1984. The links was designed and built by Arnold Palmer and was his first course design in Europe.
The layout offers classic links golf in a spectacular setting. Rolling fairways, deep dunes and thick rough provide a strong challenge, while exposed holes close to the coastline bring the Atlantic wind firmly into play.
A Spectacular Back Nine
The two nines have distinct characters. The opening holes introduce the coastal scenery gradually, with sweeping views across the water and several memorable holes along the shoreline.
The back nine is even more dramatic, winding through larger dunes and more rugged terrain. It is this stretch of the course that inspired Palmer’s well-known observation that he may have designed the first nine, but nature designed the second! The varied elevation changes, coastal carries and panoramic views make Tralee a course that stays in the memory long after the final putt.
Excellent Practice Facilities
Tralee Golf Club has an impressive practice set-up. The 300-yard driving range includes strategic targets, five covered coaching bays and outdoor grass tees with space for up to 25 golfers. There is also a golf studio and a dedicated six-hole par-three course, with holes ranging from 80 to 195 yards.
Golfers can warm up on the nine-hole putting green and separate practice area before heading out onto the links. Lessons and on-course tuition are also available through the club professionals.
Clubhouse with Coastal Views
After the round, the clubhouse bar and restaurant offer impressive views across the course through a wall of glass. There is also a balcony for lunch on warmer days and a lounge area where golfers can relax after playing.
Nearby Hotel
Killarney Court Hotel is a practical base for golfers combining Tralee with other leading courses in County Kerry.
The family-owned three-star hotel is a short stroll from the centre of Killarney, with free Wi-Fi and complimentary on-site parking, subject to availability.
After a day on the course, guests can eat at Seasons Restaurant or relax over a drink and casual food in McGillicuddy’s Bar. The hotel also has a treatment suite for massages and beauty treatments.
