Tralee Golf Club

Tralee Golf Club has been established since the 1896 when it was a 9 hole course at Mounthawk. The course has moved around a little since its inception, in 1984 Arnold Palmer designed the current course layout which is in Barrow.
This golf course is nothing short of spectacular, the holes are carved into the sand dunes which makes for some dramatic tee shots over deep and treacherous grassy hollows. At 6,975 yards the back tees are not for the faint hearted but do not be alarmed as there are tees to suit all abilities and ages.
Like all links courses Tralee has plenty of humps and bumps that require some local knowledge to help you navigate them or you can always rely on some Irish luck. What is particularly notable about Tralee is on a few occasions throughout your round you will find yourself playing out to exposed greens with very little margin for error. The second is a long par 5 which runs along the sea and out to a green sitting on a corner of coast where missing to the right will leave you ball swimming with the fishes.
To play this golf course we would highly recommend the Meadowlands Hotel which is located a short walk from the centre of Tralee. There are a number of great courses in this area such as Ballybunion’s Old course and Dooks Golf Club which are well worth a visit. Why not get in touch with our friendly team to help you plan your next golf escapes to Ireland.
