Real Club de Golf de Las Palmas

The course is located 15 minutes from the city of Las Palmas, 25 minutes from the airport and 45 minutes from Maspalomas which makes this very easy to reach wherever you are on the Island.

The whole experience of playing Las Palmas starts with the long winding road up to the clubhouse where you are met with a very British Colonel clubhouse with views out to the sea as well as the villages on the nearby mountain side. Las Palmas is the home course of European Tour player Rafa Cabrera Belo, with also many other famous golfers having played this historic course. Take time to walk through the corridors reading all the history of the club that is presented on the walls. The clubhouse has the feel of what can only be described as a port and cigar atmosphere, great to still see.

The course is located alongside the crater of an old volcano, demonstrating Gran Canaria’s volcanic origins, and it boasts amazing views of the summit, the sea and its spectacular deep ravines.

Designed by the famous duo Mackenzie Ross, Real Club de Golf de Las Palmas has a traditional layout, similar to an old style British course. The golf course is unbelievably lush throughout the 18 holes, it is well designed, well maintained and easily walkable. This is not a long course at 6470 Yards off the back tees and not particularly difficult with no water hazards, but thoroughly enjoyable to play in a most unspoilt setting. The greens are small overall, so to keep the ball on the green you will need to get the ball in the air to get it to stick and avoid going through the back of the green.

Once you have finished your 18 holes, be sure to enjoy a drink on the clubhouse balcony overlooking the 9th and 18th green. The Real Club de Golf de Las Palmas course boasts beautiful views of the summit and the ocean; providing an unforgettable round to all. Whilst the fairways are narrow, a variety of beautiful Canary Island flora line them; including mimosas and palm trees. The 2nd hole of this course is particularly notable because here a careless shot will not be forgiven; an inaccurate shot will send your ball down the ravine that runs parallel to the fairway. The architects of this course succeeded in creating a fantastic parkland course whilst still bearing the scars of Gran Canaria’s volcanic activity to create a fabulous visual experience.
