About

Designed by Pat Ruddy, a golf links specialist, whose aim was to design a traditional links course that challenges the complexities of the modern game and allows the champions of today to express their technical skill and pure golfing ability. The European Club due to its rugged landscape and enormous sand dunes, is often compared to the Scottish masterpiece of Kingbarns Golf Links. Pat Ruddy created the course as a private venture for his friends and family to play some world class golf, however on completion it was imperative to open the course to the world.

The European Club is one of the many world class golf courses in his portfolio which also features Druids Glen, Sandy Hills at Rospenna and Glashedy Course at Ballyliffin. It is already regarded as one of the top 100 in the world and without doubt will be a main fixture along the Open circuit before too long. The lengthy course stretches just over 7,000 yards and is unsheltered from the battering winds and ruthless elements. The tricky rough and numerous bunkers all play apart in attempting to ruin your score. A stern test for all levels of golfer, this exciting links course has a wonderful backdrop of the Irish Sea on 16 of the holes.
