Waterville Golf Links is situated in South West Ireland. This course lies between Lough Currane and the Atlantic Ocean. The history of golf in Waterville is an interesting one, it was first played here in a rudimentary form in the late 1800’s due to the large influx of men moving to the area to work on transatlantic communications. At this point, Golf was mostly played in the winter when the grass was dormant. Around the turn of the century, a 9-hole layout was introduced and the first semblance of a club was formed. For the first half of the century, the course was enjoyed by the locals but it also experienced fluctuations in interest and membership.

The course from the back tees now stretches across 7,350 yards of the idyllic Irish coastline. It is par 72 and unusually for a links course has no blind tee shots. The course ducks and dives through the towering dunes, with the natural fauna and flora giving colour to the landscape and bringing an abundance of bird species to observe on your way round.
The clubhouse has had extensive renovations but still has the original bar & restaurant area from 1889 so you can really feel the history when visiting this place. The views from the clubhouse are wonderful and you will not be disappointed if you add this course to your next golf escape to Ireland.
